The Ultimate in Facial Rejuvenation
Everyone ages differently. But typically, the skin starts to sag as gravity takes its toll. Botox® and fillers (I.e. RADIESSE®, BELOTERO BALANCE®, JUVEDERM® Volumizing Filler and JUVEDERM® Voluma™ XC) offer temporary relief from fine lines and wrinkles, but are not a permanent option. Eventually, you may want something more.
If this sounds like you, then you may be a perfect candidate for a facelift – the ultimate in facial rejuvenation.
What is a facelift?
During a facelift procedure, I essentially tighten the supporting structures of your face and neck, to give your skin a firm foundation. Facelifts are done in a surgical center or a hospital, under general anesthesia, on an outpatient basis.
In the old days of facelifts, we simply tightened the skin, but the results were short-lived. Eventually we learned that the true support of the skin lies in the fibrous structural tissue underneath the skin. We’ve now developed the procedure to tighten that structure that holds the skin in place, so that when we drape the skin back over it, the look is natural and long-lasting – as long as ten to fifteen years. We can also remove any excess neck and facial skin if necessary.
During your consultation, I may suggest additional procedures to complement your facelift. For example, I may suggest liposuction to remove excess fat in your neck and jowls, brow lifts or eyelid surgery to open up your eyes, or fat injections to redefine your cheek bones. These procedures combine well with facelifts, and by working on multiple areas at one time, we can maximize your rejuvenation process.
What is recovery like?
You’ll look worse than you’ll feel. Bruising and swelling will last 10 to 14 days, but it’s not overly painful. I’ll have you wear a supporting garment on your face during this time – 24/7 for the first week, but only at night for the second week. By 10 to 14 days, you can wear makeup and concealer to cover any remaining signs of the surgery. You’ll also work closely with my aesthetician to create a post-operative make-up strategy and a long term skin care regimen that will support and protect the investment you made in the facelift procedure.
After recovery, your scars will be hidden by your hair. Typically the scar runs in front of the ear, around and behind the ear, and into the hair line. I take particular care to make sure your scars are unnoticeable and well-concealed.
What can I expect from my facelift?
After a facelift, your turkey neck will be gone. Your jowls won’t sag. You’ll look vibrant, rested, and ten years younger. You’ll look like yourself again.
