Michelle Lee, MD

Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Michelle Lee is a board certified plastic surgeon with expertise in breast reconstruction, facial rejuvenation and the surgical treatment of migraine headaches. Dr. Lee firmly believes that aesthetic surgery and reconstructive surgery are intricately intertwined. The reconstruction should strive to be beautiful, while the aesthetic procedure should never compromise function. Dr. Lee's path to plastic surgery began with art. As a concert pianist, her decade-long performance career refined her artistic approach as well as the ability to perform under pressure.

Dr. Lee joined DuPage Medical Group in 2016 after completing the Peter Jay Sharp Aesthetic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She offers DIEP flap reconstruction of the breast: a method of recreating the breast using the patient's own abdominal tissue while preserving the six-pack muscle. "The DIEP flap perfectly combines aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. The goal is to create a natural and beautiful breast while minimizing compromise to the function of the abdominal wall."

Prior to fellowship, Dr. Lee completed six-years of residency in Plastic surgery at Case Western Reserve University. One of her mentors was Dr. Bahman Guyuron, an aesthetic industry leader in facial cosmetic procedures and the pioneer of migraine surgery. Together, they published numerous scientific articles in leading peer-reviewed plastic surgery journals focused on optimizing outcomes in rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation as well as migraine surgery. Dr. Lee has also presented her work at numerous national and international conferences. Most recently, she was the recipient of the Rollin Daniel Resident Competition Award for best presentation in rhinoplasty at the Annual Rhinoplasty Society Meeting.

Dr. Lee earned her medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania after completing her undergraduate double majors of Piano performance and English literature at UCLA.

She is affiliated with Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center, Hinsdale, Edward Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital and Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital.
